The week ahead… lots to do!

I hope you all have had an awesome weekend! 78 degrees today was very nice!

In Math this week, we will finish up our work with area and perimeter. Then we will move onto patterns. In Science, we will start working on our Animals and Habitat unit. When we come back from Sound to Sea, we will start work on our research projects.

Speaking of Sound to Sea, we have a busy week ahead:
— Final paper work is due! This is mostly Chaperone forms. I believe I still need three.
— I believe all of the kids are all set. One more form should be coming in tomorrow but after that, we are good to go.
— Make sure you start packing now. The current weather report for Sound to Sea is Monday, 54 degrees during the day, 45 degrees at night. Sunny. Tuesday is 61 degrees during the day, 45 degrees at night. Rain. I hope the rain changes to sun over the next few days but please keep checking. I will update the weather later this week.– Donations. Their was a sign-up genius sent out earlier this week. Please bring in all donations by Thursday afternoon. Mark them as Sound To Sea. There is a space behind the office where they will be held until next Monday morning when we load out.

Report Card envelopes — Please send back all report card envelopes. We still need to use them in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Snow Make-up Days — The work day on February 15th has been changed to a school/snow make-up day. We will have school on Monday, February 15, 2016. Please plan accordingly.

I think that is all of the news for now. I hope you all are getting excited for Sound to Sea. We are going to have a great trip!

Have a great week,
Mr. V.

Area and Perimeter

A short and quick video that will help the kids complete their work on Monday in class. Please have them take a look at this video a few times prior to Monday to help them remember what we went over in class today.

Thank you!
Mr. V.

Post Icepocalypse Information

I hope you all stayed warm and safe over the weekend. The Rain, snow and ice sure left a mark on the area. I hope this note finds you well. And not going stir crazy with all of the days off from school.

Sound To Sea — Please return all forms this week. We need to have all forms completed so we can process them and your child is cleared for the trip. Please send in all forms by Thursday. We also need the chaperone form for all parents going on the trip. If you need any forms, please contact me ASAP. Reminder: We leave on Monday, February 8th.

Currently, we have a three hour delay on Tuesday. Please pay attention to the news channels for updates or changes but at the current time, school will open up for students at 11:05am. Also, pay attention to make-up dates when they are scheduled.

Report Cards will be coming home this week.

Once again, thank you to everyone who donated to Note In The Pocket. We had an awesome total of donations in December. Thank you to those who donated your hand me down coats, I bet those coats meant the world to the students who wore them this past weekend. Thank you!

That is all the news that I have currently. Have a wonderful night and if all goes well, we’ll see everyone back in school at 11:30am tomorrow.

Have a great week,
Mr. V.

Wow!

Dear families,

Thank you for your continued support of the Note In The Pocket classroom clothing drive! With a big assist from Mrs. Barefoot…..

We donated 353.5 pounds of clothing for the month of December! That is a huge number! And it brings our total this school year to 771 pounds of clothing donated.

Together, we are making a huge difference for other Wake County Students!

Thank you,
Mr. V.

Happy New Year (Officially)

Happy New Year, again!

We are off to a great start to the New Year in 4th grade! The kids were on their best behavior and we had a lot of fun on the field trip to the symphony. I was holding my breath for the Star Wars theme but alas… No! Not this year.

The students did well on their math test last week and we have started a new unit on 2D Figures. We had a whole lot of fun with Venn Diagrams today. Plus, we had a great start to the oral reports today as a bunch of groups in my home room started off strong this morning. I cannot wait to see what Mrs. Goldberg’s home room has in store for us tomorrow morning.

We have also had fun with my voice over the last few days. I have had bouts of laryngitis for the past week that have lead to some interesting sounds and (negative) decibel levels today. It will be fun to see what it sounds like tomorrow!

Which brings me to the fun part of this message: all of the news and information that we can fit into a digital space because we don’t have to worry about printing costs. Long story short: this may take awhile.

Sound To Sea Field Trip

Happy New Year!

I will post later about class/school related things.

I want to take a moment to let you know that the Sound To Sea Packets (forms to be filled out) will be coming home today. There are two packets. One that needs to be filled out and returned. Another that is general information. You will keep that one. These forms are not due back tomorrow but the sooner you get them back to us, the sooner Mrs. Goldberg and I can finalize everything for the field trip. The medical form (1702) has to be signed by your doctor. Many of the forms are two sided. Please make sure to fill out everything.

CHAPERONES — There is a meeting on January 14th at 6:00pm. A form went home yesterday that we need returned as soon as possible. Thank you to those parents that sent the form back today. Please make every effort to attend if you can, but please send back the form if you have not done so already.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. There are so many moving parts involved with the Sound to Sea field trip and the sooner we can lock them all down, the better. Thank you!

Have a great day,
Mr. V.
