Thank you!

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your generosity! We collected 234 pounds of clothing for Note In The Pocket for October. That is the largest one month total we have ever collected. You and your children are making a difference in the lives of Wake County Public Students one pound of clothing at a time BUT it is making a HUGE difference for those families in need.

Thank you!

Have a great day,
Mr. V.

Note from Mrs. Stangler/ Class Updates

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I apologize for the late week post. I meant to get this up on Monday but with the transitions and getting report cards ready, I am late this week. Please accept my apologies.

Mrs. Stangler sent me a note that she asked me to pass along to all of you:

Thank you so much  for the generous care package. What a treat!!! It really made me smile. I miss you all and I think of you everyday! I will be sure to let everyone know when my sweet pumpkin baby arrives. I’m feeling good and getting excited!
Thank you again,
Mrs.Stangler

As we wind down the week, the kids have their Final Multiplication test in Math on Friday.

Community Project: Classroom Clothing Drive.

Dear Parents,

Later today, you should get a letter from your son or daughter that looks like this one:

Dear Parents/Guardians,

For the rest of the year, our class is going to embark on a journey to give back to our community and to make a difference in the lives of children in Wake County Public Schools while learning math lessons along the way. We are partnering with a local, nonprofit organization called Note in the Pocket to collect new and gently used clothing of all sizes. Our donations will be weighed with each delivery and graphed and calculated throughout the remainder of the school year. The students will be learning math concepts while making a difference!

If you or your child has outgrown some of your clothing, please consider making a donation to our classroom clothing drive. We will have a donation box in Mr. Veeder’s classroom where the clothes can be placed each month. As our bin fills up, clothes will be delivered to Note in the Pocket and we will graph our results.

There are 51,000+ children in Wake County living without enough proper clothes and shoes. Through our donations, we hope to support Note in the Pocket to achieve their goals for helping children in Wake County Public Schools get to school in seasonally appropriate shoes and clothing. School Social Workers are able to request clothing for children in need and have been doing this at higher rates than ever before. With this clothing drive we can help stock their shelves that are dramatically depleted as the weather has turned colder.

We also hope to teach our fourth grade students that we can all make the difference in the lives of people living in our own communities. Through the kindness of donating our gently used clothing, we can make a huge impact on the lives of others who live in our own community.

Thank you!
